Not that we're jealous or anything...

...but, erm, have you noticed the streets are a whole lot quieter today? That's because the whole world's gone on holiday! When the Royal Wedding was announced the ones quick on the uptake realized they could get an 11-day break using just 4 days of holiday allowance. And then there's those who have managed to wangle a 17 day break, by taking another three days off after the May Day bank holiday.

According to a new survey over a third of British workers are planning to capitalise on the bank holiday bonanza. Lots of people are going abroad too - flight bookings are up by 104 per cent, compared to last year.

Travel search site www.skyscanner.net says that classic beach breaks in Spain are still the most popular with Brits, but, not surprisingly given the extra time we’ve got on our hands, mid haul destinations New York and Istanbul are not far behind.
