A Hen Party Fit For A Queen

01 April 2011

Come on, Pippa, there's still time to organize a decent hen party for your sister before she gets hitched. All this 'a few, low key drinks at a friends place' is, well, boring.  We see a 'girls go wild night' in a country house hotel, loads of champagne and a bit of sliding down the banisters after midnight.

How about a right royal knees up at Thornbury Castle in Gloucestershire www.thornburycastle.co.uk  Kate might have to get over the fact that the last Queen of England who called this place home was Anne Bolelyn, who lived here with Henry VIII, before she lost her head to make way for his next bride. Hmm...perhaps Pippa could sort out a Merry Wives of Windsor theme night, in this, the only Tudor castle in a country that is now a hotel. Or the girls could have a slumber party in the Tower Bedroom - its 10 ft wide bed reputedly the biggest hotel bed in Britain.

Perhaps Kate wants something closer to Mum and Dad's, so there's always the very regal and a little bit sexy Cliveden www.clivedenhouse.co.uk in her home county of Berkshire. The hotel certainly has aristocratic connections,  having played host to virtually every British Monarch since George I and has been home to three Dukes, an Earl and Frederick Prince of Wales

Or just a 35 minute train trip from London (or 10 minutes in a helicopter, if Wills could lend one) is Luton Hoo near, er, Luton www.slh.com/lutonhoo. Her future mother-in-law has been a guest here and the girls could have a pamper party in the spa with its treatment rooms, pools and heat therapy suite. Followed by a raucous party one would hope. There better be headaches in the morning ladies, or we won't be happy!
