Calling all die hard monarchists! Where will you be on Royal Wedding Weekend? Supping on punch under some bunting with the neighbours perhaps? Glued to the telly box dressed in your best ballgown? Or wailing into your novelty tea towel that Wills will never be yours? Well we say nah to all of the above. Instead, get your camping gear at the ready and join us for – fanfare please – The Royal Wedding Weekend Sleepover!
No, seriously. From Thursday 28th April to Sunday 1st May, a giant campsite on Clapham Common will offer 10,000 royal revellers the chance to celebrate Kate Middleton and Prince William's nupitals, festival stylee. At a bargaintastic £75 per person for 3 nights, Camp Royale will have 24 hour security, the latest electronic RFID wrist band technology for quick and secure access in and out of the campsite, hot showers, wash and toilet facilities, as well as dedicated Quiet and Family areas. Phewf! But the best bit? A Glamping Zone for luxury campers (read: wannabe princesses). Altogether now: eep!
Features across the campsite will include, obviously, a ginormous TV screen for guests to watch the build up and live broadcasts, free morning brew every day courtesy of Yorkshire Tea, resident Camp Royale Beefeaters as well as the Clapham Common choir. How fancy! Oh, and stylists will be on hand to advise visitors on what to wear for the big day (er, McQueen like the bride, natch). There is a Best Dressed contest, after all...
So happy campers, forget the ‘Kate Rate’ of many London hotels and get involved in this totally unique, brilliantly cost effective alternative, like now. You bring the hats, we’ll bring the noisemakers!
