Going anywhere nice this weekend?

25 February 2011

With Oscars this Sunday we're California Dreaming. Our hottest tip is to book a stay at Hollywood's hottest hangout, the Chateau Marmont (or just ‘The Chateau’ for those in the know) chateaumarmont.com. This ultra discreet Hollywood hotel is where the stars come to be naughty without ever getting caught. It’s where Jean Harlow tiptoed down the hallways to seduce Clark Gable whilst on her honeymoon and Led Zeppelin rode their motorbikes through the lobby. There were even reports that Britney Spears was so badly behaved here, she was banned from the hotel and her name added to the Marmont's ‘Black List’.

Whilst 99.9999999% of us will never get an Oscar invite (sob!), it’s well worth a trip there during Oscar season, as the locals celebrate the Big Night in style. Hold your own Gold Statue Party and dress the part at Decades Two - decadestwo1.com on Melrose Avenue. This store boasts one of the world’s best vintage collection, and who knows, you might pick up something fresh off Angelina’s shoulders.  It also wouldn’t be LA without a trip down Rodeo Drive. Avoid it on Sunday when most of the shops are closed, plus it’s packed with the kind of tourists you don’t want to be grouped together with. Finally, bag yourself a table at the Michelin starred celeb fave Italian restaurant Osteria Mozza for some late night escapades of your very own mozza-la.com - their ricotta and egg raviolo is heaven on a plate.
