HINT HINT! Going anywhere nice this Valentines?

In the mood for love – or rather, being whisked off somewhere dreamy and being wined, dined and pampered? If your nearest and dearest isn’t showing signs of having a booked a romantic break this weekend, resist the urge for a screaming tantrum. We know it’s tempting, but it won’t get you very far. Simply print off this page and leave it round the house…who knows, your hints might sink in one day…

* Gritti Palace in Venice, www.hotelgrittipalacevenice.com. If you’re staying in one of the world’s most romantic cities you need to stay at one of the city’s most romantic hotels. With only 91 rooms, the vibe is intimate and luxurious (ask for a suite that overlooks the canal). The décor is Venetian extravagance with lots of fabrics, Murano chandeliers and 18th- and 19th-century antiques. It also has an art collection as impressive as any museum .

* The beautiful oasis Jnane Tamsna hotel, www.jnanetamsna.com. This lies in the Palmeraie, the palm groves on the edge of Marrakech. The hotel consists of 30 bedrooms spread over five villas amongst lush orange blossom-scented gardens that are idea for those hand-in-hand strolls. Book a private suite and you’ll get your own private verandah, open fireplace and roof terrace. This time of year the weather should be good too.

* And finally (bear with us here), how about Basecamp Spitsbergen in chilly Norway? www.blacktomato.co.uk Built from driftwood from the beach, it sounds abit Polar explorer-ish but actually it's a chic cosy hotel for those wishing to explore the fjords and frozen glaciers of the Arctic Circle. Cuddle up over a hot chocolate and head for the Loft-Room – it has a glass ceiling for uninterrupted views of the bright northern lights. Love in a cold climate? Now that’s hot!
