New York: who, what, where?

With New York Fashion Week kicking off tomorrow, it’s not just about what to be seen in, it’s also about where to be seen in.

So where will the Fash Pack be hanging this year? Well, you can bet your bottom dollar there’ll be plenty of after-show partying at the Mercer (www.mercerhotel.com) in the heart of SoHo. The Mercer’s not new (it first opened in 1998), but with its understated glamour and attention to detail, it’s still the hotel of choice for the fashion crowd (including our own fashion team!). Snapping at the Mercer’s elegant heels is 60 Thompson. This contemporary 100-roomed boutique hotel is chic, intimate and not at all intimidating, with a rooftop bar and some of the best views of SoHo. High up there in the cool stakes too is The Lion 62 West 9th Street, New York, a back to basics restaurant with black walls and iron chandeliers that serves classics like lobster pot pie, as well as new kid on the block Beauty & Essex (www.beautyandessex.com, 146 Essex St), a huge uber-cool restaurant, bar and lounge that uses a pawn shop as its entrance. And for Fash Pack party people? It has to be either The Box on the Lower East Side (www.theboxnyc.com, 189 Chrystie Street) with beautiful burlesque shows and some of NYC’s best mixologists behind the bar, or b.EAST (www.broadwayeast.com) also on the Lower East Side - the crowd here is young trendy and know how to party. Mmm, we feel a weekend to New York coming on…
