Madonna v Guy: whose camp are you in?
It's the A-list divorce of the decade - and the sides are beginning to be drawn. According to recent reports, Guy's friends are blaming Madonna's anti-ageing and exercise obsession for causing the breakdown of the marriage. One unnamed friend was even quoted as saying Guy described sleeping with Madonna as ‘like cuddling up to a piece of gristle'. Meanwhile, her long-time friend Gwyneth Paltrow came out in support of the singer on the red carpet last night. ‘I'm supporting her any way I can during this time,' she told Grazia. domee - am sure Guy is a lovely man but he must have known marrying the world's most famous, demanding, self obsessed, bizarre and famously nasty woman was not going to be a walk in the park, he would have known exactly what he was getting himself into. Madonna is a legend and i have loved her from day one as an artist, but as a person i think she is deeply flawed.

Simmy - Madonna is a woman that is edgy, topical, current, trend setting with a message to deliver. If you believe that, then Madge's marketing team have done their work brilliantly. It appears M has chosen to shed her latest image, that of the English country lady and with it, the man that conveniently complemented that picture. Sadly, this marriage and the man are binned since they, most likely, challenged the diva . Whether there were major martial issues or not is not the point. One does not have to have an intimate knowledge of the marriage, only of the public persona that she cultivates, to know that M demands does not ask but demands, does not suggest but dictates, not compromise but insist (watch any video). Like any well funded, aggressive marketing campaign (do not be so naive as to be believe this is anything but a spin campaign managed by her Madonna PR) M will attempt to cultivate an image of the misunderstood wife and mother.
Acknowledge her for what she is - a astute business woman , enjoy her music should you choose, and let her go into this fair night,
wllw - I don't like Madonna at all! i think her music is great but the rest of her isn't, Guy Richie can do a lot better. You know what, i wouldn't be surprised if she sleeps wrapped up in clingfilm!
sara1 - I'm in Team Guy, definitely. It must've been a nightmare to be married to someone who puts exercise and appearance above all else. She even exercised for about three hours on the day she brought David home from Malawii! I can't wait to see who Guy hooks up with next. I can imagine there's a long queue forming!

He actually seems like a pretty decent bloke, and looks like he has put up with a lot. Madonna seemed to go all vitriolic last wk because he wanted to go public with the enws while she was on tour and not wait any longer - I wonder how long they have actually been pretending? Maybe since just before baby David came along - and maybe she wanted him to keep pretending so she could adopt another child.
Hope she doesn't adopt any more - the woman who has lived a life of total excess brings her kids up on total restriction. Very strange, slightly scary woman.
Hope Guy gets decent access and a nice new lady friend.

marryanne - Team Guy any day. Madonna is a stringy, self-obsessed control freak who has a modicum of singing talent and a vast amount of self-belief and business acumen. As a fifty-plus year old woman, she looks scarily drawn and grotesque, but appears to think she's still a juicy twenty-year old pop star. I'm sure we will be subjected to a huge spin campaign to present her as a misunderstood woman, but it's hard to believe anyone would swallow it. The evidence of her bizarre beliefs and over-controlling nature is too great. Guy, whatever his faults, is well out of it, and will flourish away from her overbearing Me-Me-Me presence.
