Moschino Cheap & Chic Autumn 2013: Puffball Punk

17 February 2013 by

Moschino's little sister is going through a punky phase for A/W, with graffiti script prints, multiple piercings and rainbow coloured hair adding edge to her girlish signature style. From Pepto-Bismol to fuchsia, pink accents were the stand out hue in this otherwise monochromatic collection. Mini puffball dresses, school girl buttoned up collars and bejewelled skirt suits offered up a well-trodden selection of turbo girlishness. But things took on a more rebellious feel with the addition of shaggy oversized shearling jackets, graphic leopard print tailoring and electric guitar shaped totes.

The collection's key embellishment could be best described as beaded polka dots – the pretty decoration was used to good effect in dresses, blazers and fine neckline trims, taking on the look of a more subversive dog-collar. Heavier jewel encrusted pieces included a simple sweater emblazoned with a graphic question mark and a trompe l’oeil tuxedo outline added to a puff hemmed mini dress.

The highlight script print reading Cheap and Chic was minimized and blown up on various garments, while micro-mini lengths confirmed the youthful focus of the line. One of the most striking stories of the collection was the leopard interlude. A leopard printed trouser suit was styled with a leopard blouse, while a skirt and top combo got the double leopard treatment, paired with a matching leopard coat. Eye-catching and poppy, these looks would definitely translate well on to the seriously stylish streets of fashion week.
