The Eurythmics' 'Here Comes The Rain Again' could not have been more apt show music for Jason Wu's Autumn Winter 2013 offering considering the adverse New York weather conditions were enough to keep even the most intrepid editors and buyers from showing up. But show up they did, and in full force, for what has clearly become one of the unmissable highlights of New York Fashion Week.

It was 'classic' Wu, almost to the point of feeling like a retrospective in the sense there was nothing particularly fresh or new on offer. But that's not necessarily a bad thing for a designer who is clearly focusing on staying true to his brand DNA, transcending trend, and making timeless investment pieces for a well-heeled clientele who want a power wardrobe that takes them from the boardroom to the ballroom.
All Wu's signature fabrications made an appearance. From the fierce & feral (leather, fur , snakeskin and feathers) to the fragile & feminine (chiffon, crepe de chine, lace and satin) - all cleverly juxtaposed in a luxurious melange that was certainly true to the shows title - 'Extreme Femininity'.
Amongst all the fine tailoring and frivolous eveningwear, one of the standout pieces was a lace embossed PVC raincoat - certain to make the 2013 must-have list of many a fashionista - and definitely the envy of quite a few weather weary editors as they left the venue - hurrying to the next show - clutching their umbrellas.
