The Red Carpet Met Casual At Antonio Berardi (Grazia_Live Instagram)
Antonio Berardi's red carpet rep has been on an unassailable incline over the past season- in part catapulted by Gwyneth Paltrow working that cheek revealing dress. At today's presentation staged on the 11th floor, Berardi's catwalk in the sky offered a hint of the drama his dresses can provide those Hollywood starlets.
Most flash-bulb attracting were A-line cut skirts and dresses revealing the knees from the front but then cascading down to the floor in vibrant, billowing chiffon. Tagged 'the mullet dress' the style is the perfect combination of business and party. Keeping the look hip, tops were roomy and boxy, with sweaters and oversized jackets adding a more low-key, casual note to eveningwear.
Elsewhere there was a strong leopard motif realised in devore and flock across sweaters with rounded textured sleeves. Metallic flashes came courtesy of glass embroidery and foiled fabrics in shades of pastel pink, rose gold and silver.
Daywear was imbued with preciousness with pleated minis and sweaters given a luxurious treatment with with textural relief.
A bolder note was struck palette wise with pieces in red, cream and black - particularly striking was a trouser suit composed of a scarlet jacket and trousers in colour bands. Berardi's skill is to make something that could be overkill in other less nuanced hands, look both convincing and wearable.
This loosened up, more throw-on outing offers a fresh vision for his red carpet fans and beyond.
