Backstage Beauty: Meet The Team Behind Marc By Marc Jacobs' Spring Summer 2014 Look

11 September 2013 by

We've seen many a fabulous beauty look backstage at New York Fashion Week this season - and the Spring Summer 2014 fun has only just begun! One of our favourite looks thus far came courtesy of the Marc by Marc Jacobs show today, which saw striking blue eyes and rock chick hair. We spoke to the beauty team behind the look for the full run down...

1. Guido For Redken On The Hair

'I wanted to create rock concert hair with a grungy cool vibe and European sensibility. I used Satin Wear 02 and Diamond Oil Shatter Proof Shine. Firstly, the hair was blow dried straight then I added natural movement by bending it on the barrel of tongs and made it heavier on the ends with extra product.'

2. Dick Page For Shiseido On The Makeup

'The inspiration was David Bowie's music video for Life On Mars. Blue eyeshadow might not be the colour that suits everyone and it might not be applied in the most flattering shape, but I wanted to have just one striking aspect to the makeup. I used an  ice shade underneath then applied an electric blue using a wind shield wiper technique, which is pressing the brush flat and creating a halo of colour that can just be seen when the eye is open.'

3. Elisa Ferri For Sephora On The Nails

'Marc himself helped create this nail polish as part of the full range for Sephora. He picked the colours and they're all high shine and feel very rich. My favourite polish is Funny Face, which is a nude taupe. Marc's favourite is clear and shiny. This polish is fast drying and that's what you need for a show like this. I've been working with Marc for 15 years and he is a genius. It really is a joy when we collaborate because he's so inspiring. When he has a vision, he sticks to it and this is the man who sets trends, not follows them.'
