Beauty Scoop From New York Fashion Week: Rodarte's Beach Princesses And Oscar de la Renta Channels Kate Moss

13 February 2013 by

We bring mroe beauty news from the fabulousness that is NYFW. From glittery nails to Kate Moss-inspired beauty, there's a whole load of beauty love for you to feast your eyes on...

1. Beach Princesses At Rodarte

You might be mistaken in thinking that Rodarte were showing their S/S 13 collection by the beauty looks being created backstage today. Beachy, humidity smudged make-up was the order of day, with make-up artists painting in gel liner to mimic flecks if mascara falling underneath the model's eyes.  The 'under smokey' was teamed with flawless skin courtesy of NARS creamy concealers launching right now!

Our favourite part of the Rodarte beauty puzzle though was the rose bud hair accessory, formed from he model's own hair and pinned into place at the back of the head, joining the two side braids and a soft juxtaposition to the barbed wire crowns made by Rodarte.  'They're princesses but super cool' said hairstylist Odile Gilbert who created the hair.

2. Silver Tips At Jenny Packham

We do love a bit of nail art at GraziaDaily so you can imagine our delight when we saw a glimmer of fun on the nails at Jenny Packham. Known for her opulent gowns and elegant collections, the nails had to raise their game and with Essie's Gina Edwards at the helm, we weren't disappointed!

Gina used the Essie Lux Effects collection in 'Set in Stone', a silver flecked top coat effect.  Starting from the mid section of the nail and taking it down to the tip for a graduated effect over a clear base.  We're sad to report that Lux Effects was limited edition in the UK so if you're ever in the states, make sure you pop into the drug store to pick up a bottle of fabulousness.

3. Give Those Guys An Oscar

It was definitely an Oscar worthy performance backstage at Oscar de la Renta with one of the tightest backstage areas in the business, it didn't help that there were four looks for the beauty team to create. Notably it was the Kate Moss beige nude lip and the red lipped, out all night, dancing gypsy look caught our eye created by Revlon make up creative director Gucci Westman. Using an armoury of Revlon make up Gucci and her team worked frantically to pull off the four unique looks. But if you wanted to recreate the beige Kate Moss lip, you need to track down the Revlon Illuminance Creme Shadow in Not Just Nudes.

4. Painting In Watercolours At Narcisco Rodriguez

Although the brief for Narciso Rodriguez was mainly the same a last season, don't fix if it's not broke and all that, it was the watercolour cheeks that was created by Dick Page and his amazing palette of Shiseido blushes to customise each model. 'If you apply the highlighter before your blush then you get a watercolour effect where the light shines through just like a watercolour' Dick told us. Dreamy.
