Beauty Highlights From New York Fashion Week Day 5: Donna Karan, Tommy Hilfiger and Carolina Herrera

Day 5 of New York Fashion Week might be over, but the amazing beauty looks and heated backstage moments are showing no signs of showing down girls! Yesterday’s highlights included some pretty stunning seashell-like hair creations at Carolina Herrera, a catwalk full of sand dunes, surfboards and beach babes at Tommy Hilfiger, and not forgetting the gorgeously glowing models at Donna Karan. Read on for the full lowdown...

1. Seashell-like Up-do’s at Carolina Herrera

(@orlopita)

As make-up artist Diane Kendal for MAC explained, this look was a “modern take on Twiggy”. You get the idea girls- a load of lashes, black eyeliner, and a pale wash of colour across the lips. However, our favourite part of the look came above the face- hair stylist Orlando Pita created an incredible double French twist, inspired by the shape of a shell. With a sleek side parting and slicked-back tresses, this was uber reminscent of Twiggy’s sexy pixie. We love!

2. Beach babe Jourdan Dunn at Tommy Hilfiger

(@grazia_live)

Catwalk queen Jourdan Dunn looked every inch the beach babe goddess at Tommy Hilfiger’s show yesterday. We just cannot stop staring at her incredible physique- toned, tanned and glowing with health- this is the S/S 14 bod we all want (even if it does come courtesty of some amazing fake tan...)

3. Beautiful Plaits at Karen Walker

(@bumbleandbumble)

Over at uber cool Karen Walker (this was her 15th season at NYFW- impressive) us beauty ladies spied some pretty gorgeous plaits, courtesy of Bumble and Bumble Editorial Stylist Laurent Philippon. This hair guru has already been working his magic backstage at Herve Leger and BCBG Maxaria, and certainly didn’t disappoint yesterday either. We’re loving this relaxed, loose side plait and cannot wait to try it out.

4. 70s-inspired beauty at Donna Karan

(@ctilburymakeup)

Trust Charlotte Tilbury to work such beauty magic backstage at Donna Karan. Inspired by 70s iconic beauties Marissa Berenson and Lauren Hutton, Tilbury armed herself with a host of MAC products to transform models into dewy, glowing goddesses. The chic hippies were bronzed to perfection with sun-kissed cheeks and sparkling lids. Gorge.

5. The quiet before the storm at Donna Karan

Team Grazia beauty would like to finish by saying that not all backstage snapshots look as calm as this one. Hence the term ‘calm before the storm’- seriously, 30 minutes later and this very same scene was awash with brushes, hairdryers and powder galore. Either way, the merest glance of a make-up work in progress never fails to get us all excited and we just had to share this one with you.

Stay tuned for all the action from Day 6!
