Beauty Highlights From Milan Fashion Week Day 1: Tropical Beauties at DSquared2, Metallic Eyes at Gucci & MORE

Having bid farewell to London town, the fashion glitterati promptly jetted over to Milan where the shows started in full force yesterday morning. Team Grazia beauty are thrilled to announce that things have got off to a very good start indeed- when DSquared2 hit the catwalk first thing we were seriously wowed by Charlotte Tilbury’s beauty creation as girls were transformed into 50s, tropical goddesses: “It's all about the brow, golden skin and a strongly-coloured lip — a tropical goddess.” Honestly- it was like something out of South Pacific. Swoon!
Our second highlight of the day was the Gucci show where models were prepped to perfection by Pat McGrath on make-up and hairstylist Luigi Murenu. The expert duo created a gorgeous, sporty 70s look complete with a golden metallic eye, neutral lips and a winning voluminous hairdo. As Murenu explained, volume and movement was integral to his look- “an update of 1970s-era Lauren Hutton going for a jog- understated sporty.” His secret? An army of Kerastase products, of course.
Nude nails were also the order of the day at Alberta Ferretti (and DSquared2), and we reckon this is one trend we’re going to be seeing a lot more of come SS14. Click through our gallery to check out our beauty highlights from Day 1 at MFW and stay tuned for any breaking beauty news…
