Spring 2013 Beauty At Paris Fashion Week:Rocking Nails At Vivienne Westwood And A Bit Of Hair Drama At Viktor & Rolf

01 October 2012 by

Plenty of lively happenings today in Paris with a show schedule that required passport entry and using coca-cola as a hair styling product. Really you ask?  Find out why....

1. Arriving at Viktor & Rolf with hair plied with gel and wax from the previous show, (Haider Ackermann  FYI) the models had hair practically impossible to style. 'nothing is taking it out' Luigi explained.  All possible resources were pulled together to try and fix the problem from Coca-Cola, noturious for striping hair of heavy residue, to copious bottles of shampoo and boiling water, anything was used.   With a completely opposite brief to Haider, Viktor & Rolf's soft brushed out braided hair, was of course ready, just in time for the show, and not one suspecting FROW-er! Ahhh the beauty of backstage.

2. Painted heart faces and multi-faceted stone wrap crystallised adorned nails kept things interesting backstage at Vivienne Westwood. With a dream nail team led by Marian Newman and Nail Rock creator Zoe Pocock, Marian told us it's "bling on bling, rock on rock".  Marian was a picture of delight as nails took on another direction other than nude.

Make up genius Val Garland told us "think tribal mixed with alien and Marie Antoinette". This translated as white and brown painted faces in heart shaped faces (Marie Antoinette), white "punctuation" in the eyes (alien) and a black outline of the heart shape faces (tribal).  Only at Westwood.

3. At Carine Roitfeld's first season styling Loewe , there were clear indications that Carine's stylish look had influenced the beauty department. Hair and make up was clean, classic, simple, as a nod to Corine we're guessing, which meant strong matte red lips and a low buns set in a glossy, centre parting. For a piece of the most stylish and fierce women at fashion week, invest in Guido's most important backstage tools, REDKEN Duoshield 07 and Glass 01 for shine, control and classic hair.

4. Pat McGrath, legendary in the make up world, was busy playing with her new toy, a much coveted iPhone 5 in between painting the faces backstage at Victor & Rolf.  Jealous? Us?  Absolutely.
