Spring 2013 Beauty at Milan Fashion Week: '60s Bombshells at Moschino & White Eyes at Ermano Scervino

This weekend’s backstage beauty teams stirred things up with a whole host of high-impact looks. Allow us to introduce the biggest and best trends emerging from Mllan Fashion Week...

In a busy backstage area at Fendi face-painter Peter Philips used teal, cobalt, orange and tan neoprene swatches taken from the collection to line model’s lower lashes. “It was a bathing suit,” Philips told us backstage. And don’t even get us started on Karl Lagerfeld’s embellished headbands which perched perfectly upon session stylist Sam McKnight’s “sharp, aerodynamic” up-dos. Divine, right?

Backstage at Moschino

Moschino models were gorgeous 60’s bombshells.  The recipe? A good dose of all-out beauty.  Makeup maestro Tom Pecheux used MAC’s best-selling Morange lipstick to conjure up the perfect pout, adding both top and bottom lashes for some seriously high impact peepers. “It’s Moschino. It’s Milan. We’re having fun,” he proclaimed backstage. Over in hair Sam KcKnight whipped up Lana Del Ray hair with buckets of backcombing.

Backstage at Marni

Make-up maestro Tom Pecheux described Marni’s spring/summer 2013 collection as ‘essential’ and conjured up an appropriately pared-back pure makeup look to suit.  This translated as a pre-makeup deep-tissue massage and a healthy, glowing base applied without brushes.  “We are using our fingers to melt the products,” he explained. This included a light dose of MAC Cremeblush in Posey and the brand’s Mineralize Rich Lipstick in Lushlife.

White eyeshadow has showcased at no less than six Milan shows.  At Ermanno Scervino makeup artist Jessica Nezda paired white MAC pigment with a brushed up brows for a “snow white” effect. Isn’t it chic?

Backstage at Pucci hair hero Luigi Murenu applied carved ivory hair pins to simple half-up, half-down do’s to reflect the Asian influences in the spring/summer collection.  What do you think?

Jane About Town (Tue Sep 25 07:14:19 BST 2012): Not sure I'll be rocking the neoprene eye SS13 (never say never!) however a Largerfeld headband would be amazing!
