Beauty Highlights At New York Fashion Week Spring Summer 2013: Scarf Accessories at Marc by Marc Jacobs & Badgley Mischka's 'No Makeup' Makeup

Sadly, Tuesday was Grazia Beauty's final day at New York Fashion Week before the fun begins in London - but before we wave goodbye, here's our favourite snippets from the day's backstage beauty action…

1. The beauty look at Marc by Marc Jacobs packed a punch when it came to colour – it certainly brightened up our day. With bandeau as well as scarf hair accessories in African and Indian inspired prints, Guido (the Creative Consultant for REDKEN) told us the accessories were 'like Eighties London with culture clashing fabrics'. Ooh. Using such impactful hair accessories, Guido felt the hair needed to be kept simple. 'The key to wearing an accessory in your hair is to play the hairstyle down so I've just slopped the model's hair up,' he told us. 'I didn't want a top knot or a graphic bun it needed to be simple'. If only we could 'slop' our hair up in such a beautiful way…

2. Over in the make up department at Marc by Marc Jacobs, Dick Page (the Artistic Director for Shiseido) told us the MBMJ girl is a little bit 'homemade' this season. We think it's a little bit fabulous too.

3. So you've all heard of the 'no make up make up' look, right? Well, at Badgley Mischka that's pretty much what make up artist Tom Pecheux nailed. 'It's raw, prepped skin,' he told us. 'Actually the skin you should have before you apply your make up.  We've massaged and moisturised the skin so that it's flawless and smooth.' His top tip for looking this good? 'Just love yourself'.  If we had skin like Karlie Kloss, it would be a little easier!

4. And finally, we spotted a group of models backstage at Marc by Marc Jacobs playing pretend TV presenters. Ha! What with Cara D giving photography a go, we're starting to wonder whether backstage action is where these girls let their career dreams fly…
