London Fashion Week Autumn / Winter 2012 Show Report: Peter Pilotto

So slick, so well edited, so sharp, sooo beautiful and I'm so buying one of the fishtail pencil skirts. Those were the excitable comments pouring out of fashion editors' mouths as they left a breath-taking Peter Pilotto show at Topshop's Old Billingsgate Market space this morning. The sun was shining and after a strong coffee and a mini bacon sandwich we were ready to hit the first show of the day and boy, were the fash pack pleased they got up on time!

Christopher de Vos and Peter Pilotto have been riding one awesome wave since their super-bright scuba-inspired spring/summer’12 show. LFW is the hub for digi print experts and these boys blazed the upbeat trail wildly for spring, so it was nice to see their magic-eye spin in a similarly gorgeous direction for this autumn/winter offering - with the graphically sliced sea blues and greens from this spring darkened. As well as the familiar, we were treated to dreamy and distorted blown-up florals and boggling jewelled trompe l’oeil, too. The opening looks were stream-line - made of fiercely skinny pull-em-on trousers topped with mini puffa jackets, draw-stringed at the waist and trimmed with silver leather peplums.

In the past few months we've seen Miranda Kerr, Carey Mulligan and Amber le Bon all choose Pilotto for high profile appearances, and whilst the cropped puffas and ultra slim pants have the mien of a fashion editrice practically digi-printed all over them, the last string of insanely beautiful dresses - ranging from navy devore velvet, intricately sequinned florals and signature printed bodycon - could and most probably will make many an A-list red carpet or TV appearance. Every look had the uptown perfection of a New Yorker with all the creative swagger and fun fashion spirit of a London girl. And as for the pointed ankle strapped and print inserted shoes (designed in collaboration with Nicholas Kirkwood as per usual) we all want a pair. Reeeeally badly.
