Acne’s been way more than a denim label for some time now but yesterday’s autumn/winter collection preview took things to a whole new level for the Swedish fashion house.
The show, which took place at a large dis-used sorting office in central London, was transformed with painted marble effect walls echoing the formation of the town hall in Stockholm. The whooping eight hundred guests (which included an uber stylish FROW of Florence Welch, Nicholas Hoult, Irena Lazarenanu and Hanneli Mustaparta) were greeted by sexy ACNE clad waiters serving (seriously strong) Negroni cocktails for the fashionistas who dared…
Jonny Johansson’s dramatic autumn/winter collection which was comprised of “unexpected clashes between materials, textures, colour and shape” was inspired by three different artists, focusing on the body through their eyes- the contour paneling and wave like volume, which featured throughout, were inspired by surrealist photographer Andre Kertesz, the sexappeal came from erotic sculpture Han Bellmer, whilst the colour palette offleshy pink and beige was inspired by the painter Hanneline Rogeberg, which was contrasted Acne-style with neon orange and shocking green.
There was much focus on the waist, with wide cinching belts featuring on many of the looks (worn over coats, dresses and polo-neck sweaters.) And zip fastening girdles played with proportion on the waistbands of low-slung trousers.
The silhouettes and finishes (which included coats made of glossy shoe leather, power netting and vinyl) were more way out than ever before and styled to dramatic effect butbroken down this is still a collection of (highly desirable) wearable piecesthat the Acne super-fan (which there are many) will be clambering to get their mitts on…and that includes us!
