Day three of London Fashion week brought a total of THIR-TEEN shows, one on the hour every hour, which in terms of backstage beauty access meant call times from 7am until 8pm. Yep, we saw a LOT. Here are our highlights...
1. Naughty School Girls at Mulberry
Over delicious pistachio pastries and exotic fruits in the backstage area at Claridges Hotel, we met Mulberry's bunch of naughty boarding school runaways. Make up artist Matthias Van Hooff produced lightly concealed "flustered" skin with lashings of clumpy L'Oreal False Lash Effect Telescopic Mascara and amost ruddy, flushed cheeks by mixing three lipstick shades and using them as a creamy blush. In hair HQ, the masterful Sam McKnight wowed with side partings and messy, interlinked raised braids. Well, this lot have been sleeping rough for a week after all! "The show has an element of Where the Wild Things Are," Sam explained "and this influence is evident in the texture of the plaits". Beautiful or what?
2. Gang Girls at Vivienne Westwood
This lot of urban lovelies had been hanging out in the conrete jungle. Marion Newman was asked to produce nails that reflected the texture of "the surface of a skateboard and pulled it out of the bag with a mixture of slightly irridescent textures gray minx transfers and quirky nail tattoos that portrayed an impression of "I'm with the gang." The same sentiment was there in the makeup department where make up maestro Val Garland used MAC Penultimate Liner do draw amazing tattoos onto the hand, legs arms and back of the neck.
3. Erdem's Amethyst-toned Skin
Backstage at Erdem, Nichola Joss, St Tropez skin finishing expert, told us about the gorgeous amethyst-toned tan that was being sprayed onto the model army. Click play above to see the gorgeously polished glow on the catwalk. We want.
