So New York Fashion week has come to a close, but and bright and early on 17th February, London prepared for another week of fashion’s finest. Here are our hottest beauty picks from Day One at LFW...
1. Face Lace at Corrie Nielsen
So it was far too early and the backstage buffet was looking disappointing, but the beauty look at Corrie Nielsen was just the thing to cheer us up. Backstage a trio of beauty experts Craig Taylor, Yin Lee and Phyllis Cohen worked up a truly amazing vision inspired by the fashion collection today, which referenced Scottish clans, Victoriana and a touch of the equestrian. Over in hair Craig Taylor for Bumble & Bumble created a super-sleek modern updo on perfect contrast to all things Victorian, rolling the lengths of hair over a sponge and securing it in equestrian hairnets. Paired with flawless milky skin and a brown/red lip colour-matched to a kilt in the collection, it was a match made in heaven. Oh and let’s not forget the A.M.A.Z.I.N.G face lace from Phyllis Cohen which launched today at www.face-lace.com
It made for the prefect finishing touch. We love!
2. Blonde Babes at Felder Felder
A dream team of Adam Reed in hair and Georgina Graham on makeup at Felder Felder worked to a myriad of inspiration including “end of the world predictions,” Ryan McGinley cave photographs and Kate and Johnny in the 90’s. Needless to say that our favourite reference was the colour blonde; that’s blonde fabrics, eye shadow and hair just f.y.i. Georgina worked up matte flawless skin with MAC Longwear Concealer and Prep and Prime Highlighting pencil saying that she is “over dewy.” We meanwhile, fell head over heels for the amazing MAC presses pigment in Day Gleam that was swept over the entire eyelid for an expensive but low key look. Adam Read crafted hair that might just become our A/W staple: Sebastien Professional Trillaint Blow Dry Spray, a deep side parting and some gentle tonging produced expensive, cool-girl tresses.
3. Cinematic Beauties at PPQ
PPQ’s collection today was oh-so ladylike and supremely cinematic and the beauty look today was no exception. Hair Hero and Tigi Global Creative Director Nick Irwin sculpted 50’s-esque, vampy, cool young things with deep side partings (major trend alert), and brushed-out tonging that followed the hairline in a look that was groomed but most definitely lived in. Makeup by Katie Hughes was matte, low key but fabulous. “All that these beauties need to go out is a sexy red lip – they’re already gorgeous,” she said. Meanwhile skin finishing expert James Read showcased a flawless, porcelain tan using the brand new tanning brand LDN Skins that had the beauty journos cooing.
