1. Simplicity at Alexander Wang

Ever since that much-coveted plait for S/S 2010, beauty at Alexander Wang is now referred to as 'the classic Wang look'. This means 'what girls look like today,' as hair supremo Guido told us backstage at today's show. He was busy tweaking this season's ultimate Wang model, Gisele - yes, that's right, Gisele Bundchen walked for Wang! 'It's about a simple style that is perfected,' Guido reveals. 'That's what makes it effective, especially when worn with dramatic clothes, like this season's collection that's full of leather.' So how did he do it? 'I created a strong centre parting using my fingers to ensure it wasn't too precise. Then the hair is tucked behind the ears and sits on the shoulders. We added extensions to make the ends jagged rather than blunt'. So we can confirm that it's another season of lustful Wang beauty.

Egyptian Scarab Beetles played a big part at NYFW today. First, it was referenced as the shade inspiration at Prabal Gurung by make-up mistress Charlotte Tilbury and now by Tom Pecheux at Joseph Altuzarra's show. Yep, it was the ancient sacred beetle that inspired the metallic shimmer shade used in the inner corners of the models' eyes. 'This make-up look is grunge, punk and couture,' Tom told us. 'The grunge comes in the form of bare skin and the punk and couture element comes from the two-stripe eyeliner'. He created a traditional line that followed the lash line then teamed it with a straighter line that ran from the bone of the nose and straight out to the brow.

3. Pillar box red at Wes Gordon

We like nothing better than a make-up look that anyone can wear.  Okay, so it might involve embracing a bold red lip but when it has a pro make-up artist's seal of approval then you know you're onto a winner. That's exactly what Charlotte Willer created at Wes Gordon - a pillar box 'youthful' red lip that was miles apart from the nudes and naturals ruling the runways so far this NY fashion week.  'Anyone can pull this look off,' she told Grazia Daily backstage. And the lipstick in question? Maybelline's Colour Sensational Lipstick in 635 Very Cherry. We'll race you to Boots...
