You've already seen Grazia Team Beauty's wardrobe for the Autumn / Winter 2012 shows as well as what's in our make-up bag, but now that we're in the Big Apple, what beauty delights have we seen? Here are our highlights from Day One at New York Fashion Week...
1. Warrior fighters at Jason Wu
Backstage at Jason Wu, we were met by a troop of models sporting high, slicked back pony tails bound by latex. The girls certainly looked strong and powerful thanks to Odile Gilbert and her brilliant hair team. Cara Delevingne was amongst them [above], with her cheekbones sharper than ever and her eyes enhanced by striking green eyeshadow swept up to the brow bone. With an armoury of Keratase lotions and potions - mainly hair spray, funnily enough - and hero product Cement Thermique, Odile created the first pony of the season. Here's to many more.
2. Matte skin at Doo.Ri
You heard it here first: matte skin is back! And no, it's not going to cause problems in the age department. Make-up supremo Tom Pecheux reassured us that with all the new technologies in foundation and base now, we can apply matte make-up without the fear of cake face. Hurrah! Plus, it's a sign of sophistication, which was the look he was going this season. So with shades of matte white and a soft 'banana shaped' shadow (very signature Tom) in the crease of the eye, the Doo.Ri girls were all grown up. And like the Jason Wu clan, their hair was swept back tightly, into chic ballerina buns.
3. Angelic travellers at Rag & Bone
Over at uber cool Rag & Bone, the inspiration came from travels in India, with the idea of poverty meets wealth. Gucci Westman (make-up artist and Revlon Global Artistic Director) wanted the girls to look innocent, angelic yet super-polished. 'It's Patty Smith goes to India,' she explained. The skin was prepped and layered to create a luminosity that was almost luna. Something of a skin specialist, Gucci used our favourite product du jour, Revlon Illuminance Creme Shadow, 4 Shades, Not Just Nudes (sadly not available in the UK yet) to create a luxury, traveller-esque glow. Thank goodness we now have the key to recreating that healthy glow - and you will want to recreate this one. As for the eyes, Gucci explained it was all about 'decadent decay.' She used triple black eyeliner, gel, kohl and liquid for a striking result. Who knew textured liners could work so well together?
