For her first stand alone show, Simone Rocha (daughter of London Fashion Week veteran John) did not disappoint. The show had the polished finish of an on-schedule show, making us put our bets on her sitting pretty next season. Nymph-like pastel colours, sheer textures and raw finished edges that dominated the Autumn/Winter collection moved onto flashes of fluro and plastic fantastic for Spring/Summer. The opening clear perspex trench had white lace layers embedded within in to create a ladylike structural piece for the sophisticated, modern lady.
As for accessories, they were grown up at first glance, surreal at a second. Wrist gloves were just visible within a white sheer envelope clutch; classic lace-up brown brogues became elegant, elevated onto a perspex shard wedge. Layering became a reoccuring theme, styled throughout with fluro green sheer silk over white lace for an added punch. Of course, tailoring is always a strong point with a black wide leg suit and a mesh back.
Overall, Simone's collection was directional, refined and confident, unlike her finale bow that was shy and nervy. We say she has no need to be.
