LFW S/S '12 Report: Sass & Bide

17 September 2011

Its no secret at Grazia HQ what a big Sass & Bide fan I am... they've had me onside since my first pair of grey Frayed Misfits jeans purchased (by myself, Kate Moss, VB and few thousand others I'm sure) in 2005 and I single handily blame them for my skinny jeans obsession that's still going strong today! But I was extra excited this afternoon as Spring/Summer is what the Aussie design duo do best (in my book anyway), they have a knack with hypnotic prints in kaleidoscopes of colour, so as the fresh fashionistas (its LFW day 1 after all) piled into a sun filled room at the Royal Opera house I already knew I was in for treat...and they delivered the perfect tonic to our manic pre-LFW week in the office.
As the upbeat music pumped from the speakers; collage-like, panel dresses and separates filed out. Tribal influenced prints, sequins and metallics on sexy minis and dramatic maxi hems- all slashed to the thigh made the energy in the room shoot to the roof. Experimenting with scale and proportion, neon accents and mega jewellery complemented what Sarah-Jane Clarke and Heidi Middleton do best (besides the hottest jeans around- none of which featured in the show btw) and that's head-turning looks you wouldn't be afraid to wear.
The Seekerstate entitled collection chopped and changed from exhilarating colour to a black and gold theme and then finished with neutral hued sculptural neoprene and armour-like beaded frocks, but it was Sass & Bide's colour explosion in the early part of the show that got the crowd buzzing...and what we liked the most!
