NYFW S/S ‘12 Beauty Report: Helmut Lang

11 September 2011

Minimalism and Helmut Lang go hand in hand so it's no surprise to see that's exactly what we got for S/S '12. Paul Hanlon (a British hair import) was particularly excited to be working his first season on HL — he's a massive fan of the iconic 90's brand. Using Tigi Catwalk Session Series, Paul imagined the girls rocking it out all night at a gig so created sweaty, dirty hair in a cool head-banging stylee. 'It's all about the products,' the hair guru told us as he tended to the tresses. He used three different wet look styling products — Styling Cream, Salt Spray and Shine Spray — to create a dishevelled, ratty knot.

In the make-up department, Temptu's air brushing products were the tool of choice. Alas, they're not available in the UK yet, but they're brilliant for creating stencilled blonde brows and highlighting the skin to create that healthy look. It was the perfect finish for the modern, minimalist Helmut Lang look.
