When you meet the prodigiously young Georgian designer, David Koma, it can be hard to reconcile his sparky, sometimes surreal embellished designs with his very, earnest, businesslike persona. Heckers, he doesn’t even wear the young designer’s unofficial uniform of tattered boots with leggings or ripped jeans ‘coz he prefers a tailored suit.
That contradiction is present in many of his collections too – which are part playful and then again, part strict. Tailored dresses and nipped in jackets as a rule. Highly original embellishment is his forte, and this collection it took the form of dots – or circular cut-outs or metallic prints OR giant furry pom-poms in primary colours. Fun, but not out of control.
