LFW A/W '11 Report: Acne

Acne have only showed on schedule at London Fashion Week for two seasons, but after today’s collection, they have made themselves so at home that it feels like they’ve always been here. Maybe it’s because we all feel so close to the Swedish brand that has been filling our wardrobes for years now, and maybe it’s because we all know that no matter how dramatic the look, there is guaranteed to be something in the collection that everyone can afford. They opened the show today with a utilitarian jumpsuit and sculptural wooden platform two-strap sandals. But it was look two – a denim gillet, layered over a silver metallic leather T-shirt, paired with navy split leg silk trousers that set the mood for the Acne AW ’11 season.

Everyone knows that Acne do the coolest leather jackets (hell, their aviator was one of the most worn jackets by fashion editors last season, and they are all wearing them again this season), but now we want to wear their leather dungarees, cropped leather trousers and tees. Jonny Johansson and team also proved that they are pros when it comes to colour. A complete cobolt blue look of cropped leather trousers and split back jumper, had editors drooling, the mustard looks have never made a condiment look so sexy (especially the velvet wide leg trousers), while the metallic wedge brogues had every blogger practically falling out of their seats to photograph them.

However, it was the coats that had everyone scribbling shopping lists. We’ll take the burgundy sleeveless maxi coat, the chiffon enveloped suiting and the finale black belted coat that looked like the most sophisticated dressing gown EVER!

There is a coolness at Acne that comes from the top, and who doesn’t want to buy into that, and starting at £80 for a T-shirt – it’s a coolness that’s affordable too.
