NYFW A/W ‘11 Report: Diesel Black Gold

18 February 2011

In New York this week there has been a change in attitude towards to minimal trend. Marc Jacobs has decided that he's sick of minimal and wants to make everything harder and stricter again, while Sophia Kokosalaki at Diesel Black Gold, is clearly feeling the same way...and we bet she's also been spending some time in the wild west too.
There is something cool about Diesel, maybe because it understands its customer and doesn't try to be something it's not. And why should it? It's got a tough edge and oozes confidence. Lace up skin-tight trousers were paired with cowboy boots and tailored tux jackets. The presence of skintight dramatic flares proved that they are more than a one-season trend (we've seen EVERYONE wearing flares in NY btw), but Diesel delivered them in maroon and black leather. Natch. There was a military injection to each look, but mixed with the country accessories and rock n'roll attitude, they didn't look like a model army.
All eyes were on the amazing saddle bags (the leather kind!) that almost every model carried, that are guaranteed to be a bag of the season. After all, it seems that the Wild West, is going to be a recurring theme this season.
