LFW S/S '11 report: Paul Smith

21 September 2010

The tailoring maestro that is Paul Smith got the Grazia girls very excited yesterday evening at the preview of his S/S'11  collection... After all, it's not often we see a runway collection that not only is one we'd all love to wear but one we could actually wear to work! And that's exactly what Sir Paul Smith delivered.

A buttoned-up crisp white shirt, sexy trousers and a cracking portfolio clutch sauntered down the catwalk, opening the show. Followed by silky shirts and perfectly-cut cigarette-slim trousers with gorgeous stilettos and chunky jewellery. Polka dot accents, uber-cool sunnies and fabulous doubled trouser belts featured heavily in the collection that seemed to pivot around the humble shirt that Sir Paul cuts so well. Playing with proportions and cuts, he presented shirt-dresses in maxi and mini forms as well as sexy elasticated-waist playsuits which resembled a shirt plus boxer shorts that had been fused (ok maybe these were less office-appropriate but highly desirable none the less). Two-tone silk fabrics, super-wide trousers and the sassy up 'dos were all big favourites. Getting shirty pays off. We love.
