If you went down to the old Eurostar terminal at Waterloo station today you'd have found 48 glamour-to-go girls with 'Saturday night disco hair' - for the Topshop Unique show, Paul Hanlon for Bumble & Bumble created voluminous triangle-shaped hair created with the so-hot-this-season "ric-rac" set (it's what we're all calling crimping now, apparently). The look was bulked out with extra hair pieces dyed to show flashes of faded 'antique' colours. Could S/S 11 be anymore disco fabulous? Hannah Murray, the genius behind Topshop make-up, continued the glamour-puss look with a Seventies retro lip layered with Topshop lipstick in Flame and topped with vinyl shine-like gloss in Cardinal Sin.
Unlike last season where furry mono brows ruled (!), brows were given a Seventies feeling - strong, brushed up and powerful (very Brooke Shields). Skin also took on a "retro glow" thanks to James Read for St. Tropez where he used 3 layers of wash-off mousse and spray in varying shades to look highlighted and disco-ready! And, after a sneaky peek at the killer platform shoes for the collection, let's hope there weren't any casualties on the catwalk!
