I want to go on holiday in Marc Jacobs' head. Because clearly his summers call for a much more fabulous wardrobe than mine. Yesterday's Marc by Marc show was fun, flirty, girly and just a little bit sexy. Marc has become known for starting his shows bang on time, which creates a panic all over NYC as fashiony folk rush to the Armory venue. Yesterday he broke his pattern a little. We sat, we sweated in the intense heat, and we waited...all the while listening to intense house music. Give us an overpriced drink and we were back in the Nineties. There was cursing, but as soon as the first cloche hat took to the runway all was forgiven.
Here are the basics - waists are high, legs are even higher (get hot-pant ready ladies), jumpsuits aren't going anywhere, but now they are softer and more wearable across the board. But Marc's number one trend is stripes. With everything. High-waisted circle skirts (which are still hitting the midi-length, by the way) worn with a simple blouse look younger rather than prim - especially worn with a wedge shoe. There was nothing new here, but there doesn't need to be. Marc by Marc isn't about trends, it's just about clothes girls want to wear.
