MFW AW10 Report: Christopher Kane for Versus

After a long, rainy Sunday of shows, my last port of call was the Versace Teatro to view the Versus collection, Christopher Kane’s second season working on Donatella Versace’s diffusion line.

The dresses were beautifully constructed – either strapless or bustier bodices and most with short, full circle pleated skirts with stiff organza petticoats in steel blue, bright orange, plum, bottle green and black.

As last season, the collection is all about the dress but Christopher also studied the old Versus campaigns by Bruce Weber and introduced a 1990’s rock’n’roll feeling in stone washed effect, cowboy prints on t-shirts and bags.

As the models lined up in colour groups for the identity parade-style finale, Christopher Kane’s mentor Donatella Versace led him out from backstage by the hand for the well-deserved victory lap.
