MFW Beauty Report: Marni

28 February 2010

Show: Marni

Location: 22 Via Alserio

Look: The make-up is monochrome and matte, using a khaki and copper palette and the hair is inspired by 50's mannequins.

Tom Pecheux kept skin pale - colour blocking with khaki eyes and a matte copper mouth using eyeshadow. All the colour was at the centre of the lips and rubbed away at the inner corners, 'like the girls had been eating,' Tom told us.

Paul Hanlon liked the driving gloves from the collection, 'I imagined the girls driving in an open top car with their hair being blown back in the wind. But the hair's also like the 1950's mannequins you see in shop windows with ultra sculpted hair'.

Paul's secret weapon to create the sculpted, wet-look retro waves? A cheap pot of afro Caribbean gel. 'It's my secret product that's the best for this type of look.' We're sold.
