MFW AW10 Report: Versace

27 February 2010

Donatella Versace's model army exploded onto the catwalk to the unmistakable sound of a Harley's revving engine.

Long, narrow waisted coats were teamed with metallic minis, referencing the chrome work of a motorbike, and tailored jackets with skinny motocross trousers inset with ‘dirty’ denim and leather, zipped and cropped above the ankle.

A parade of short asymmetric dresses, often backless or one shouldered, featured implanted contrasting colour metallic leather strips and thigh high splits.

Figure hugging, slinky evening gowns in chartreuse, red, petrol blue and white were adorned with zips and crystals.

The close of the show saw a mirrored ‘box’ in the centre of the catwalk rise up to the ceiling to reveal Versace’s glossy menagerie.
