MFW AW10 Report: Femininity at Ferretti

27 February 2010

If you are looking for cutting edge trends and boundary-pushing conceptual clothes, Alberta Ferretti is probably not the designer for you. But if you're in the market for feminine wearable clothes that won't be dating any time soon, look no further.

For A/W 2010, Ferretti went back the core of her business - to the pieces her customers come back for season after season, and showed a collection that consisted almost entirely of pretty dresses and standout coats.  The dresses from beaded jersey to panelled shifts and sunray-pleated gowns had a common theme in that they were all undeniably feminine. The best coats were an emerald green cape that buttoned up to the neck and styles that nipped in at the waist with a flared skirt.

As for possible Oscar frocks, I'd be surprised if one of the gowns we saw on yesterday's Ferretti catwalk doesn't make it to the red carpet.
