MFW AW10 Beauty Blogger: Etro, Just Cavalli, Alessandro Del'Aqua

27 February 2010

MAC make-up artist – and guest blogger for Grazia Daily during Milan Fashion Week – Neil Young is back with another expert look at what goes down backstage at the shows...

It’s the first day of shows in Milan and I'm off to meet the lovely Charlotte Tilbury for the Etro makeup test. Its 8.45 and I've had very little
sleep. I always struggle to sleep in hotels the first night. The makeup is a sexy, sultry smoky eye in a grey/ brown tone pushed right up to the brow for added drama. Straight after the test I head to my show along with Charlotte and her team for Just Cavalli. Having done this show
for many years, the look this season was quite radical with a super clean, gorgeous skin and a perfect red lip covered in glitter. It may not translate from catwalk to sidewalk but even without the glitter the makeup was really beautiful, - although I really loved the complete look for
the catwalk too. It was calm and relaxed backstage which was really enjoyable. Straight after the show I headed back to the hotel for some
lunch then carried on to my last show of the day; Alessandro Del'Aqua. It was chaos! Most of the girls came at the very last minute - literally!!
Trying to put lashes and liner on them whilst on your knees at the same time their hair is being done is no easy task! But as always the girls emerged looking amazing and the show finally went on over an hour late! I'm totally exhausted now having been on my feet for 15 hours and I
can't wait to get in to bed.
