LFW AW10 Report: Matthew Williamson

22 February 2010

It's Matthew Williamson's second season back at LFW (lured back last season for the 25th Anniversary), and again the celeb quotient was high, including number 1 fan Sienna Miller (sporting a fab pair of supersize earrings and white micro shorts), Yasmin Le Bon, Olivia Palermo and Twiggy. Williamson must be on a supersonic high, with last year's successful collaboration with H&M under his belt, the launch of his capsule collection for men in Spring '10, and a new NY boutique to boot.
The neons of Spring gave way to a more subtle autumnal mood with Williamson making the most of the colder climes with black and grey checked overcoats, swing back wool capes and leather jackets.  Tailoring pieces included swing back and Toreador style jackets, worn either with slinky short print drapey dresses, leather motorcross trousers or silky jodhpurs.  There's always a place for colour and embellishment with Williamson, whatever the season, so his party loving fans will love the introduction of cobalt blue (lurex knit dresses and harem pants) and the patchwork style sequinned autumnal coloured cocktail dresses are sure to be on the checklist for retailers too.
5 things we loved
1. Flippy black suede skating skirt
2. Fuchsia coat with print lining
3. Mulberry wool cape (minus the fur wrap!)
4. Bronze lame drape cocktail dress
5. Silver bead tassel jacket
