LFW Beauty Report: Vivienne Westwood Red Label

LFW Beauty Report: Vivienne Westwood

Location: Royal Courts of Justice

The Scene: Pixie is wearing a HOH 'N.A.L.G.O' logo t-shirt

The Look: Sophy Robson is creating 'mannequin manicures', created with Kinetics and using a beige colour, finished with Matte One Night top coat.

Make-up is highly skilled and technical by the beauty world's favourite make-up artist, MAC's Gordon Espinet. With 28 girls to transform into masculine, 'almost boy' characters, they have their work cut out! Fingers crossed Vivienne doesn't change her mind at the last minute (stranger things have happened).

'It's all about shadows - 14 of the girls are shaded so that they look like they've got light shadowing half of their face (7 from the left hand side and 7 from the right) and the remaining girls have symmetrical front-on shadowing, as if the light is shining directly on them, ‘like how Irvin Penn likes a face!' The skin is pale - 'I call it the Vancouver tan, skin that's never seen the light of day!' and the lips are ‘griege’ - almost stone and statuesque. Rocking!

As for the hair, Peter Gray for L'Oreal Professional described the texture as 'mohair' and 'frizzy - it's like a beret meets knight of the temple and medieval pageboy!’ However, Vivienne always wants the look to be achievable even if it is bonkers so ‘I told all the stylists to bring along their worst curling tongs, like their mum's old ones - I've only seen one professional set of tongs - so that the technique is really rough with really bad back combing like one of my clients has done it!’ It’s tucked behind the ears and slightly wild, it's a look we're sure we could attempt with no pressure on getting it perfect!

Product alert: L'Oreal Professional Texture Tonic is in every hair stylist’s kit, they just can't spritz enough of it this season!
