LFW Beauty Report: Richard Nicoll

21 February 2010

Location: Topshop show space

Look: The hair was inspired by an 80's Robert Palmer music video, Addicted to Love, in which the girls wore little black dresses plus red lips for a touch of Grace Jones!

So it was 'buns the word’ – with hair pulled back to create a sleek, wet look bun at the nape of the neck. Luke Hersheson used Excess L'Oreal Professional Deviation paste mixed with water for the secret reflective weapon and finished off the look with Sparkling Mist.

Sam Bryant for MAC was in charge of the make-up side of things. The look is super polished, powdered and sculpted then highlighted with a dramatic red lip. The eyes were bamboo smoky and a slight sheen was slicked on the cheeks. With no blusher or mascara added, the mouth with guts was the main focus. MAC Abun lip liner - a chilly shade - is blended all over the lip to define the shape and a touch of 'fearless' lip shade was dotted in the centre to create the guts.

Sam's top tip? With lipstick, always use the right brush to create your lip shape. If you’re after a rounded, softer lip then go for a round brush but if you want a sharper lip, use an angled brush. Harsh, clean, groomed and darn well fabulous!
