LFW Beauty Report: Matthew Williamson

21 February 2010

The models from the Richard Nicoll show had bottles of talc poured into their hair to absorb the excess product from that show’s beauty look and if that didn’t work, they resorted to washing up liquid!

Meanwhile, Matthew Williamson's hair and make-up looks have only just been decided - eeekk!

The look is 'beautiful, simple skin' James Kaliardos told us.  'We want everyone to look like [model] Kim Noorda; she has the best skin.' It's 90's minimalism, created with two different shades of base - L'Oreal Paris Touche Magic in a paler shade to highlight nose and centre of the forehead, and L'Oreal Paris High Definition in a deeper shade to define and contour cheeks and temples. L'Oreal's Grey Obsession, a black/grey eyeshadow trio is mixed and used to create a line in the crease of the eye. 'It's like doing Barbara Streisand's make-up but without the lashes and liner!' says James, 'Lips are shiny and neutral. And as with every show this season, there's no mascara!

Hair is cheeky, slightly masculine, for 'an effortlessly cool women, not a girl, a bit like [model] Stella Tennant,' hair stylist Malcolm Edwards told us. The hair is pulled back with a bit of height at the top and narrow at the sides, the length of hair is then tied in a bow and pinned up. Just so cool.
