LFW AW10 report: LP.BG report

21 February 2010

Grazia have been firm fans of LP.BG since model Ben Grimes and designer Lily Parker first set up their line in 2008. Their clothes are the kind you just have to have in your wardrobe because they're realistically wearable forever more without losing their cool clean edge, and admirers can't fail to notice those little details the girls carefully add to each garment. When we caught up with Ben and Lily to view the film presentation of their AW10 range, we learnt that they've been thoroughly studying exactly who  the LP.BG girl is. What does she wear? And how does she wear it? Where does she live? Who does she hang out with?

And after reams and reams of paperwork, Ben told us they found the embodiment of this girl in the beauty and spirit of French actress and significant other to Mark Ronson - Josephine De La Baume. In black and white the film conjured up a trip back in time to the sixties and a lazy, hazy and idyllic day in a sparsely decorated French apartment, with Josephine reading books, insouciantly lounging and perfectly showing off the new looks. Ben, who was wearing a cute short sleeved grey skirt suit from the line, told us of an initial inspiration of mod culture - cue simple lines in sharp cuts, buttoned-up shirts and slim-fit cable knit jumpers. Instead of sticking with a colour palette of mod-ish black, grey and white, they've injected silver metallic (love the A-line mini skirt) silky peppermint green and the lightest of washed out pinks. We'll be first in line to snap these pieces up please!
