From the front row of Giambattista Valli’s show it looked like he was embracing a younger customer: Mary-Kate Olsen, Elettra Rosselini, and Leigh Lezark. Indeed, Giamba, as he is affectionately known, was clearly in an ebullient, youthful frame of mind as he presented thigh-grazing hems, tiered ruffled skirts, giant leopard print, and fringe-tastic details.
In this collection there were ample representations of Valli’s breadth of appeal; tailoring, coats, and sumptuous cocktail dresses.
Tailored jackets had ruffled lapels, ¾ sleeve coats were sequinned and dresses had either face-framing feathers or swayed with fringes.
A monochrome start gave way to dreamy silk printed cocktail dresses with hints of jade, true to Valli’s love of exuberant brights; emerald, tomato red, orange and hot pink.
