MFW show report: Fendi

28 September 2009

This morning we breakfasted with Karl Lagerfeld and his Spring Summer collection for Fendi, and were seduced by its delicious ‘undone’ boudoir glamour.

Soft fluid volume and subtle layering were at the heart of this sensual delicate collection. Dresses in linen, washed silks, chiffon and tulle whispered by in chalk, sand, and jade, with accents of citrine, ochre and aquamarine.

Waists were emphasised by boned, punched leather bustiers or Lucite and wood studded belts.

Seams and edges were frayed to further emphasise the undone languid nature of the collection.

Sheer blouses with pretty frilly bras beneath were teamed with puffballs or ruffle-waist full skirts.

Diaphanous tulle gowns, some with bands of tight ruffles and others like after-dark peignoirs, gave glimpses of silk French knickers and lace-edged bras.
