The sun is back and it’s day three of Milan Fashion Week. First up, it’s a predictably early morning showing for Marni. In a hot yet spacious backstage, MAC’s Tom Pecheux was on hand to talk us through the make-up look. ‘Marni clothes are confident, structured with a soft attitude which is the inspiration behind the make-up. It’s a romantic fading out look with taupe and Rose on the eyes, temple and up to the eyebrow.' The lips are stained in the centre with a plum pencil called English Rose, a modern version of aristocratic British portraits. With no mascara (we're predicting a trend here!) but curled lashes, the look was simple and elegant, just like the Marni collection! Hair was a bit more complicated. Paul Hanlon for Tigi was using two scarves in different pattern combinations to make the hair look ‘like the girls had almost tied their hair up too quickly and it’s a bit knotted and twisted with the fabric so that they are as one’. To do so, one scarf was knotted underneath the half pulled out ponytail and the other threaded through the loop. Pieces were then pulled out randomly for a messy look, with pieces tonged for an undone style. Trust us, a lot of work goes into making something look undone!
