Backstage Beauty: Makeup goes grungy-girlie at Moschino

26 September 2009

As we walked past all the gold accessories and shoes, we knew we’rd arrived at Moschino. Lucia Peroni for MAC and Guido (we’re feeling your pain, you’re working so hard!) for REDKEN were on hand to create the make up and hair. ‘It’s a bit 90’s, cool Kate Moss - fresh and slightly grungy and pretty,’ Lucia told us. With a few individual lashes on the top eyelid to open the eye and brown mascara for a simple eye look. Brows were ‘a bit Brooke Shields’ (Brooke’s brows have really inspired a generation!) They were brushed up with brown mascara that is wiped off slightly. ‘It’s "not there" make up with shine across the nose, temples and cheeks and lips are nuded out with foundation, before applying Orange Alarm Creme Colour Base.’ Applied with fingers, it was dabbed on the centre and up to the cupid's bow for a more intense hit of colour with the rest of the lip blurry around the edges. Hair was similarly simple, ‘a messy soft knot that’s really easy to do,’ Guido told us. REDKEN’s thickening lotion was used for body and then the hair was put up into a knot with flyaway bits hanging out. The hairline was tonged for ‘prettiness’ and the texture was soft. ‘Everyone can and will do this hair’. If only we had you to do it for us Guido!
