LFW show report: Antonio Berardi looks right at home

21 September 2009

Set in Mayfair’s beautiful St Mark’s Church, Antonio Berardi staged a fabulous return to London Fashion Week this afternoon with a collection that strongly channelled his Italian roots and British style.

Corseted dresses with super structured jackets: the shoulder pad has blossomed into something more akin to American footballer’s armour. Panelled stretch shifts also pushed the athletic edge, from nude pinks to foxy black dresses with sheer panels and lingerie detailing; it was Berardi looking right at home.

Highlights included a flesh coloured corset with crystals and a peplum miniskirt, the armoured shouldered jackets and athletic panelled aertex shifts, a beautifully embroidered kimono jacket and a pleated black tulle embroidered skirt. Welcome back Antonio.
