Issa's tropical storm

21 September 2009

As the crowd piled into the last show of the day at LFW's new home in Somerset House last night, a mix of tired looking journalists and super glamorous folk packed out the auditorium. There was the usual buzz we've come to expect at Issa with the likes of Daisy Lowe, Peaches Geldof, Laura Bailey and Tolula Adeyemi rubbing shoulders on the front row. Without further ado the room went dark before insane strobe lights flashed to the beat of wild tropical sounds. Almost blinded (by the lights) it look a moment for us to realise the wilds screams were for no less than Naomi Campbell who opened the show in a fabulous tropical print halter-neck dress and matching large-brimmed hat. It became instantly apparent that Issa's S/S collection was for the height of poolside glamour (and posing) ; swimsuits with hoods and kimono sleeves accessorized with platform sandals were certainly not for doing laps! Luxury details on Issa's gorgeous jersey fabrics were the standout pieces, in particular a monochrome crawling ant print that adorned kaftans, trousers, tops and dresses which made way for more colourful tropical designs, the kind resort holidays are made for!
