LFW show report: PPQ party girls

PPQ duo Amy Molyneaux and Percy Parker promised us a ‘major surprise’ with the casting for their S/S 10 show and they delivered. The usual It Brit crew who have taken to the catwalk in the past (Pixie, Peaches, we’re talking about you) were relegated to the front row this season (‘they’ve grown up,’ Amy told us) and in their place was an all black cast of models. But if that was controversial, the clothes were anything but. The collection was classic PPQ. Graphic purple, orange and blue prints on jumpsuits and fluted-skirt dresses (there’s a trend emerging for that shape, by the way). Silk high-waisted trousers in raspberry (loved) paired with bra-tops embellished with fan detail (less keen). And, of course, a bit of crochet, with a full length striped dress. The PPQ collaboration with Adidas – producing a sportswear tee teamed with crushed pink metallic trousers and an Adidas print dress – added another element into the mix. But essentially what PPQ does best is party dresses for party girls. Not really surprising when you think that Amy Molyneaux and her crew are a practically permanent fixture on the London party scene. Indeed, as you’d expect, the two PPQ parties that followed the show were the most in-demand so far this London Fashion Week.
