Osman’s all-white

19 September 2009

There is a lovely buzz about LFW today, while normally by day two the feet are getting sore, and we’ll happily throw people to the ground just to be able to get to our seats quickly, everyone has been calm and just a little bit jolly. Until Osman’s show at the official BFC tent. It was easily the busiest of the day, and hungry fashion eds were starting to feel a little edgy, which wasn’t helped by confusion on how to get into the show – the Grazia team was separated by a rope, and one side was luckier with speedy entry than the other! But all was forgiven when the lights went down and we were greeted with an ‘80s soundtrack and a touch of the Ting Tings (Yasmin Le Bon happily bobbed her head on the FROW).
Anyway, Osman (Yousefzada, but helpfully he dropped his hard-to-pronounce surname this season) is clearly not feeling colour for SS ’10, for this afternoon he revealed a completely white collection…with a little hint of gold. As the first model stepped out in sculptural heel-less shoes – yes, there’s more of them around for next summer – and the clothes followed the sculptural vibe. Ankle-length column dresses were laced down the side, Neoprene dresses with cut-away shoulders barely moved as the model hit her stride, and wide skater skirts (already an emerging trend perhaps) bounced. We were loving the sunglasses though, and not just a little bit jealous of them, after all an all white collection under strong show lights is bound to give you a blinding headache.
